The Implications That Social Networking & Blogging Can Have On Your Career
Monday October 20 2008
Last Thursday we held our final HR seminar of the year for clients at the Copthorne Hotel, Cardiff. The topic was one that has become increasingly popular with HR Managers and Line Managers - Social Networking & Blogging, and what impacts it can have on a business.
Our legal eagle, Anna Denton, was joined by one of her Morgan Denton Jones colleagues, Mark Morgan, for what was one of the most interesting presentations we have ever had. Many discussions were sparked between the different HR Professionals as a result and it was fascinating to hear of some of the Facebook groups that have been formed by current and ex-employees of companies!
Although the presentation was for HR folk working within South Wales businesses, we felt there were some important points to make our candidates aware of:
- Don’t write anything on a networking site that could be seen as offensive to your employer
- Be very careful of the groups you join on networking sites
- Can anybody see your profile on a networking site? If so be extra careful of what you write on there!
- Writing about colleagues on the internet could be classed as bullying…again think twice before you type!
If you are a manager yourself and you have a question regarding the seminar please email Nicola@marblerecruitment.co.uk. You can also visit Morgan Denton Jones’ website www.mdjlaw.co.uk for more information on the legal services that Anna and her team can offer.
